Tips For Recovering From A Facelift

Recovering from a facelift can be a challenge. However, if you are aware of what to expect beforehand, it can make your recovery a lot easier. Here are some tips that will help you to recover quickly and safely from your facelift surgery.

Activity While In Recovery

One of your major concerns maybe whether or not you will be able to shower after surgery. It is best to wait a day or two after surgery to do this to prevent wetting any incisions that have been made. You should use a baby toothbrush when brushing your teeth since this will be easier to get inside your mouth than an adult toothbrush.

You are going to feel tired quite often so be sure to rest when you need to. When you get into bed raise your head on several pillows. Two or three pillows should be enough to make you comfortable. While you should take it easy in general, it is alright for you to start taking short walks. However, strenuous activity is discouraged. Do not jog or do aerobic exercises for a few weeks after your surgery.

Medications

After surgery, you will be given antibiotics to prevent infection. Always take the full course of antibiotics that have been prescribed even if you start feeling better. Sometimes, pain medication can give you an upset stomach. If this happens, take your pain medication after eating. If the feeling persists then talk to your doctor. It may be that you need a different medication.

Your Diet 

You will have to be careful about what you eat right after surgery. This is because it will be difficult for you to chew. Eating soft foods is the safest thing to do. Here are some of the best choices you can make for your post facelift diet:

  • Soups
  • Yogurt
  • Pudding
  • Applesauce
  • Mashed potatoes

Due to a change in diet and the antibiotics that you will be taking you should expect to see some difference in your bowel movement. If you find yourself constipated, then tell your doctor about it. Often a mild laxative is all it takes to get thing flowing again.
