Three Skincare Changes To Enact After A Facelift

Having a facelift is the ultimate change in your looks. If you have wrinkles and sagging, a facelift will get rid of any of these issues, and it will help you to push your appearance back to a younger age. One of the best things about a facelift is that it lasts long-term, as long as you take proper care of your skin. If you are investing in a facelift procedure, you will also want to invest in products to care for your skin to keep the procedure in good standing. Here are three skincare changes to enact after a facelift procedure.

Stop manual facial scrubbing

Once your scars begin to heal, you will be able to go back to your normal routine of cleaning your face without having to be concerned about the wounds. One thing that you should cut out of your new facial routine post-facelift is the scrubbing. Scrubbing and pulling on the skin causes tears in sensitive or thin skin. It is common for the skin in the face to be thinner as you age, which means this is a significant issue. Pulling on the face with manual exfoliation is what contributes to skin wrinkling and sagging. Instead, invest in chemical exfoliators that clear out your skin without any heavy scrubbing.

Invest in a better SPF

After a facelift, you want to make sure that you treat your skin as if it is sensitive. This means using better products, including a good SPF. Sun exposure can cause sun damage and exacerbate the appearance of scars after your facelift. Ask your doctor for a referral on a good facial lotion or sunblock with a high SPF. A 50 SPF rating or above will protect your sensitive skin and lessen the chances of the scars from surgery becoming pronounced, rather than fading. If you have issues with hyperpigmentation, ask your medical doctor to prescribe you an SPF lotion.

Find a proper eye cream

The eyes are one of the first spots on the face that begin to wrinkle. Even after getting a facelift, you may still develop crows feet after time. In order to combat this issue, you will need to get a proper eye cream. A moisturizing cream for the eye area can help to keep away dark circles, and it can make the eye area more supple and stave off wrinkles. After your facelift, begin a regular daily routine of applying a good eye cream day and night in order to savor the results of your facelift long-term.
